Even When You’re Not Ready

During my usual Saturday morning run, I was warming up on the treadmill. You know — slow walk, gentle stretch, easing into it. But I increased the pace a little too quickly, and before I knew it, I was running. Not because I planned to, but because the treadmill demanded it.

Right there, God whispered to my heart: “Even when you’re not ready, when I am ready, I will push you. My timing is what moves you forward — not yours.”

And honestly… It’s true. Sometimes life feels exactly like that treadmill. We want to warm up. We want to take our time. We want to feel prepared. But God sees the places where we’ve been walking for too long. And when it’s time to run, He increases the pace — gently, but undeniably. Not to stress us. Not to catch us off guard. But to remind us that readiness was never the requirement — trust was. Because when God is ready to shift you, elevate you, stretch you, or move you… He will.

Scriptures to Reflect On

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” — Jeremiah 29:11

“The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord.” — Psalm 37:23

“It is God who arms me with strength and keeps my way secure.” — 2 Samuel 22:33

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding.” — Proverbs 3:5

Closing Thought

Sometimes God moves before we feel ready — not to overwhelm us, but to show us that readiness was never the requirement. Trust was.

Reflection Prayer

Father, thank You for being the One who sets my pace.

Help me trust Your timing, even when it feels faster than I expected.

Strengthen me to run when You say run,

to move when You nudge me forward,

and to rest when You call me to rest.

Teach me to rely on Your readiness, not mine.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.
