I was meant to post on Friday, 2nd January.
I already had a post prepared — one God had placed on my heart.
But then… life happened. And I started to spiral.
In that moment, I wanted to talk to everyone — except God. Which is ironic, because I had spent most of 2025 talking to Him. Yet somehow, it felt like He hadn’t been listening (Please… just leave me and my Father. We were having a moment.)
On Saturday, I went to a friend’s house, and as God would have it, the conversation naturally turned to faith — God, prayer, and kingdom matters. Somewhere in that conversation, I discovered there was a Bible study group. I expressed real interest in joining.
Now, let me be honest. One of the things I’ve struggled with on this journey is consistent Bible reading.
Please don’t recommend another Bible plan — thank you and God bless 😂.
I am a worshipper through and through.
Tell me there’s a 24-hour praise and worship session? I’m there.
Ask me to read my Bible for one hour straight? Hmmmm… let’s negotiate.
Fast forward to Sunday — I was still not particularly happy with God. But in my spirit, I heard this clearly: “We don’t praise God only when we’re happy. We praise Him at all times.”
That hit me.
Because Scripture says: “I will bless the Lord at all times; His praise shall continually be in my mouth.”
— Psalm 34:1
So I did just that.
I praised my Father.
I prayed — because prayer isn’t for God, it’s for us.
I thanked Him.
And I went about my day.
Later that night, while looking for a sermon on YouTube, I came across one by Pastor Dolapo Lawal from WOFBEC. What caught my attention wasn’t even the sermon — it was the song he started with. I had never heard it before, but the words went straight to my heart. I paused the video, searched for the song on Spotify, and found it:
“To Know You” by Dunsin Oyekan.
I made a mental note to listen to it again… and then completely forgot.
Until the next day.
After work, I opened YouTube, and the first short clip that appeared was Pastor Dolapo again — singing the very same song.
At that point, I knew God was speaking. The lyrics say:
Just one passion, one purpose
To know You more and more
When I know You, I’ll find me
No life outside You
No one besides You
Let me know You more and more
When I know You, I’ll find me
This time, it felt like God was speaking directly to me:
“Jane, when you know Me, you will find you.
Stay focused on Me.
Know Me more and more — and you will begin to look like Me.”
And suddenly, everything made sense.
The frustration.
The restlessness.
The searching.
I realised I had been trying to find myself in many other places — clarity, people, answers, even productivity — instead of simply knowing Him more deeply.
Scripture confirms this so beautifully:
“And this is eternal life, that they know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent.”
— John 17:3
And again:
“But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.”
— Matthew 6:33
A Word for You
If you’ve been feeling lost, distracted, or unsure of who you are or where you’re headed — maybe the answer isn’t doing more.
Maybe it’s knowing Him more.
Knowing God isn’t complicated or reserved for the super-spiritual. We come to know Him through His Word, through prayer, through worship, and through daily surrender — not perfection. It’s built in the quiet moments, the honest conversations, the tears, the questions, and even the frustration. Intimacy grows when we keep showing up.
“Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you.”
— James 4:8
Identity flows from intimacy.
Clarity flows from connection.
When you know Him, you begin to find yourself — not the version shaped by pressure, fear, or expectations, but the one He designed.
Closing Thought
Sometimes we think we need answers, direction, or clarity.
But often, what we really need is deeper intimacy with God.
Because when you know Him —
you’ll find you.
Reflection Prayer
Father,
Draw me closer to You.
Strip away every distraction that competes with knowing You.
Help me seek You not just for answers, but for relationship.
As I know You more, reveal who You have called me to be.
Let my identity be rooted in You alone.
In Jesus’ name,
Amen.
