One morning at the gym, in between reps, trying to convince myself that the weight was not the enemy, I kept hearing: “Read the book of Esther.”
At first, I ignored it, but the voice persisted. I got home. Same prompting.
Before opening my Bible app , I asked: “Lord, what are You trying to show me?”
I have read and listened to sermons about Esther many times. But this time, God opened my eyes in a fresh way.
1. There Is Purpose in What God Hides
One thing that stood out immediately: Esther did not reveal her nationality. At first I wondered, why hide something so important? Then Proverbs echoed in my spirit:
“It is the glory of God to conceal a matter; to search out a matter is the glory of kings.”— Proverbs 25:2
Some things God hides for a season, not forever. Not out of fear, but for divine timing and strategic purpose.
2. Honour & Obedience Open Doors
Esther followed the instructions of Hegai (the head of the harem) without arguing, negotiating, or trying to “do her own thing.”
“She asked for nothing… except what Hegai, the king’s eunuch, suggested.”— Esther 2:15
Her humility wasn’t weakness — it was wisdom.
3. Favour Is Not Achieved — It’s Granted
The Bible says: “And Esther won the favour of everyone who saw her.”— Esther 2:15b
It wasn’t her beauty.
It wasn’t her perfume.
It wasn’t her preparation.
It was God’s hand.
Favour is a spiritual force — not a personality trait, when God breathes on you, doors open that effort alone cannot open.
4. Elevation Requires the Right Counsel
Esther never outgrew Mordecai. Even as queen, she still listened
“Esther continued to follow Mordecai’s instructions as she had done when he was bringing her up.”— Esther 2:20
Imagine if she had thought: I’m Queen now. Mordecai who? I’ve arrived.
Her obedience to godly counsel preserved a nation. Not every voice deserves access to your destiny — but the voice God assigns to you carries life.
5. God Always Reverses the Enemy’s Plans
Haman plotted destruction. He built gallows. He secured the king’s signature. He thought the Jews were finished.
But God…
“The evil scheme Haman had devised against the Jews came back on his own head.” — Esther 9:25
The God of Esther still reverses verdicts. Still destroys plots. Still turns mourning into victory.
A Word for You
You may feel hidden, overlooked, misunderstood, or delayed. You may be facing opposition that feels intentional. You may be wondering if God sees you or remembers you.
Hear this: God hides what He intends to use greatly. He positions what He intends to elevate. He favours what He intends to preserve. And He exposes every Haman assigned to destroy you. Nothing in your life is random. Nothing is wasted. And nothing the enemy has plotted will stand.
Just like Esther, you are being positioned for purpose — even if you don’t see it yet.
Scriptures to Reflect On
“Perhaps you were made for such a time as this.” — Esther 4:14
“No weapon formed against you shall prosper.” — Isaiah 54:17
“The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.” — Exodus 14:14
“He frustrates the plans of the wicked.” — Psalm 146:9
Closing Thought
When God hides you, He is preparing you.
When God exalts you, He is sustaining you.
And when God fights for you, victory is guaranteed.
Reflection Prayer
Father, thank You for the lessons from Esther’s life.
Help me embrace the seasons when You hide me,
trust the moments when You lead me,
and walk boldly in the places You position me.
Expose every Haman assigned against my destiny
and surround me with godly counsel.
Give me favour, wisdom, and courage
for such a time as this.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
